Slices of Heaven

I was telling my brother Pat today that I continue to fall deeper and deeper in love with my kids. Just when you think, "I could not possibly love them more," it happens. The well deepens.

I think it's because they do things everyday that make me laugh, make me proud, make my eyes well with tears. Here are just a few outtakes from the last week.

> They love the word "no." It's their go-to word of the moment. The other morning Maria was asking Huddy a series of questions, and he kept answering "no" over and over again. Exasperated, Maria then asked, "Huddy, do you want me to pay for college?" To which he answred, "Yes."

> The kids have been sick all week with colds and coughs, and two nights ago Mercer woke up with a coughing fit. Maria was rocking her back to sleep and told her "I love you", to which Mercer replied in return, "You." (It was her first ever attempt at "I love you." Maria and I have decided that we're just saying "You" from now on.)

> Mercer has a new dog, FiFi. This weekend our neighborhood had a street fair and so she took FiFi for a walk. It was really more of a "drag", but FiFi was just glad to be out in the sunshine, I'm sure.

Is FI Fi a real dog?
